Representation at a Planning Panel or Land and Environment Court

Many DA’s are now not determined by local Councils but independent Planning Panels. Being able to present a persuasive argument to a Panel is critical as this is where the decision is made to approve or refuse development.

Due to our experience in this forum we are often known to Panel members and this, as well as making compelling arguments, generally results in a positive outcome for our clients.

There are 5 Sydney District Planning Panels and 4 NSW Regional Panels:

  • Sydney Eastern City Planning Panel
  • Sydney Central City Planning Panel
  • Sydney Western City Planning Panel
  • Sydney North Planning Panel
  • Sydney South Planning Panel
  • Hunter and Central Coast Region Planning Panel
  • Northern Region Planning Panel
  • Southern Region Planning Panel
  • Western Region Planning Panel

You can find out more about these Panels here.

All Sydney Councils have a Local Planning Panel and we have a wealth of experience in presenting to these Panels also.

Our most frequently attended meetings are at:

  • North Sydney Council
  • Northern Beaches Council
  • Cumberland Council
  • Mosman Council
  • Waverley Council

Land and Environment Court
Founder Neil Ingham (recently retired) was one of the most prominent and well respected expert planning witnesses in providing evidence to the Court. Having assisted Neil for many years, Brett Brown is now also a respected expert and has given evidence in many appeals. Brett’s negotiation skills have been particularly useful in resolving disputes during the mediation process (Section 34 conference).

Nick Juradowitch also specialises in preparing evidence for the Court with his particular areas of expertise being compensation claims and telecommunication development.

We have experience in a wide range of roles including:

  • acting as a planning expert for developers;
  • acting as a planning expert for Councils and other government authorities;
  • acting as a Court Appointed Expert;
  • acting for objectors to development;
  • providing peer review of other expert evidence.
